Columbia University’s premedical chapter of AMSA is a student-run organization open to all undergraduate Columbia students. CU AMSA seeks to promote activism on the pre-medical level through increased understanding of our healthcare system. CU AMSA provides students with the opportunity to increase their awareness of local and global health issues by promoting active improvement in medical education; involving its members in the social, moral and ethical obligations of the profession of medicine; assisting in the improvement and understanding of world health problems; and creating an interactive and stimulating learning environment that promotes healthy relationships amongst its members. Members are supported in their admissions process to medical school through the establishment of mentoring programs and health-related activities and projects that extend the pre-med experience beyond the classroom.
CU AMSA is comprised of four committees: Bioethics Committee, Global Health Committee, Public Health Committee, and the Women in Medicine Committee. Each committee has its own lecture series, philanthropic interests, community service opportunities, and networks. All students are invited to join our committees at any time!
