BlueShift is a space for space enthusiasts to learn about astronomy, current research in astrophysics, and how to successfully traverse through college. Our meetings include learning about fellow members’ research,teaching members how to pick classes, find research opportunities, and life at Columbia in general. We alsohost larger events to teach members how to code, where we allow them to show off their artistic abilities, andwhere we use our telescope to observe the night sky. Our club aims to be open and low commitment toencourage students from all breaths of knowledge and experience to enjoy the meetings and events, creatingan environment to make friends and be successful. The events are geared towards astrophysics, physics,astronomy, and engineering majors, but our goal is to make a place for anyone who is interested in astronomy.
