Caribbean Students Association
International & Multicultural
The Caribbean Students Association's mission is to foster a sense of unity and understanding among students of Caribbean descent, those interested in Caribbean culture, the Columbia community, and the surrounding Manhattan community. We do so by sponsoring educational, cultural, and social activities throughout the academic year.

Our members are Columbia University students and affiliates who are either of Caribbean descent or interested in Caribbean culture. We welcome and enourage any and everyone to participate in CSA discussions or events.

Among other events this year, the CSA will host:

Dollarama! and 2Dollarama!: The largest on-campus Caribbean parties in NYC held in September and January respectively.
A Networking Mixer: In October, this event will connect CSA members with Caribbean affiliated alumni, professionals, and potential employers.
There is Hope Campaign Gala: In February, students, professors, organizations, government and community officials as well as Caribbean-based companies will gather together to celebrate the successes of the There is Hope campaign. Last year, our keynote speaker was Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott of the NYC Department of Education.

During the 2017-2018 academic year, CSA, under the leadership of Adella Pierre (BC '18 ) and Gabriella Belnavis (BC '18), will continue the legacy of service and ethnic pride through the There is Hope Campaign. THC has  evolved into an alternative Spring Break service-learning initiative, which aims to address and combat the residual effects of colonialism on children in the Caribbean by:

Helping them develop an awareness about the effects of colonialism on their lives today.
Empowering them by framing their success through the lens of their own culture.
Advocating for curricula that promotes positive self-image in primary school students.
