Founded in 2001 it is Columbia’s largest student-run organization with currently over 400 active members. CIRCA is comprised of seven principal branches that contribute to the organization’s mission of furthering international relations knowledge and discourse amongst undergraduates through debate, discussion, and service. To learn more about our branches see the branches information below.
Traveling Team – The Model United Nations travel team is a community of students interested in international affairs and debate. The team travels domestically and internationally to over nine conferences throughout the academic year and has received numerous awards for its teamwork as a delegation. Travel Team accepts all members, regardless of prior MUN experience. CMUNCE - The Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition (CMUNCE) is the premier crisis conference for high school students in the United States. The hallmark of CMUNCE is its fast-paced crisis committees, which allow students to react quickly and solve real world problems in international affairs. Our conference is organized and run by over 100 talented Columbia students all with a common spirit of professionalism and goal of promoting dialogue within the realm of international relations. CMUNNY – As the college circuit’s premier crisis conference, Columbia Model United Nations New York (CMUNNY) endeavors to capitalize on the spirit of dialogue inherent in our city, a hub for diplomacy and cultural exchange. Our dynamic committees put delegates in close quarters with challenging ideas and real-world imperatives, providing the opportunity to forge lasting relationships with the future movers and shakers of international affairs. CESIMS – CESIMS was founded in 2012 as the philanthropic arm of CIRCA. Its goals are to increase access to Model UN and the critical skills developed through Model UN for underprivileged schools and students in the New York City area. Dedicated to providing an educational and affordable Model UN learning experience for all of its students, CESIMS strives to maintain a high-quality conference and educational curriculum with one day-long conference on Columbia University's campus each semester. CPR – The Columbia Political Review is a multi-partisan, undergraduate magazine seeking to enhance involvement in the political process and to foster political discourse. As a multi-partisan organization, CPR does not endorse the ideas contained within its pages, although it is dedicated to presenting unique vantages on political situations, cast through the Columbia and collegiate lenses. CAFA – CIRCA Academics on Foreign Affairs is in charge of organizing the annual Speaker Series, cosponsoring other events on campus, and organizing off-campus IR-related visits. This is your chance to recommend what conferences and events fellow CIRCA members should participate in, invite someone you would like to hear as part of the speaker series, and build relationships with professionals across academia and public affairs. Marketing & Social –The Marketing and Social branches of CIRCA serve to create a fun environment through organized activities for club members. These branches help build the community within the club and increase interaction and participation between branches. SM Board meets every week and any member of CIRCA is welcome to join the meetings and help plan CIRCA's social events.
