The purpose of this organization shall be to act as a student service organization under SEAS Department of Outreach. The Sci-Inspire Chapter at Columbia University aims to facilitate the recruitment and management of volunteers both in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and Columbia College who show a demonstration and commitment to performing STEMbased volunteer work within a network of local schools (elementary, middle, and high school) within Harlem the area. Ultimately, Sci-Inspire is humanitarian based organization that strives for the long-term effort of improving the representation of underprivileged and underrepresented minorities in the STEM fields. In facilitating and organizing the STEMbased volunteering, Sci-Inspire serves to be a pipeline connection to encourage younger generations of underrepresented minority students to learn about and enjoy STEM field topics in the hopes of promoting the diversity of the STEM field overall.
