Smile Train is an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate. Millions of children in developing countries with untreated clefts live in isolation, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Their sustainable model provides training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 85+ developing countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities. We aspire to raise awareness around campus for Smile Train's mission, inspire students to get involved and provide and easy and accessible method through which students can make a difference and change the lives of children around the world. On campus, we hope to plan fundraisers, both large and small, as well as host events for awareness through which we simply explain and spread Smile Train's mission, whether through group exercises, trips to the HQ, or paraphernalia giveaways. Join the fight as we spread awareness, raise funds, and work together to make a tangible difference in the world.
