We wanted to establish Link Scholars Student Committee (LSSC) to provide support and services to help further the goals of The Link Scholars Inc., a nonprofit, and to be an extension of The Link Scholars Inc. in the form of a student based committee at Columbia University. For the last two years, we have been empowering our 8th grade mentees through one-on-one mentorship and professional and personal development workshops. Our club is unique in the Columbia community in truly giving one-on-one support and unattainable resources to middle school students whereas most groups on campus focus only on high schoolers. Access to resources in middle school is a paramount factor in determining the future of a student’s academic and professional success in higher education. Any Columbia University student who believes in this humanitarian initiative should be given the privilege to say that they had a part in shaping the future of the youth by joining Link Scholars Student Committee.
