Mentoring Youth in New York City (MyNYC) is a high school mentoring program that facilitates one-on-one mentoring relationships and provides resources, information, and firsthand, experiential advice to predominantly minority, extremely motivated public high school students from the NYC Department of Education's Manhattan Center for Science and Math.  MyNYC educates these students, many of whom vie to become first generation college graduates, about all aspects of the college admissions process, and works to cultivate the life skills and greater cultural awareness of these students through group activities.
Becoming a mentor with MyNYC requires a year-long commitment.
Program sessions are held on campus Fridays 4:00-5:30pm and are structured to prepare mentees for college and make their applications as competitive as possible.
Upon receiving an NYC Department of Education security clearance, mentors can travel off campus with their mentees.  These one-on-one outings are also a part of the program and are designed to foster trusting relationships between the mentors and their mentees.
