We welcome all members of the Columbia University community, from undergraduates to graduate students, from faculty and staff to alumni. In fact, the only requirement to join is having a Dodge Fitness Center membership.Triathlon is a quickly growing sport and is witnessing thousands of new athletes hitting the pavement and diving in every year. We are proud to play our part in this exciting growth, as every year we have several of our members complete their first triathlon ever! Some newcomers to the sport are hesitant to join a club due to a lack of experience. As it is the goal of the club to provide training and race experience, that should not be a concern. Being a part of this sort of community provides for you the ability to ask questions, learn from those with more experience, and improve your times and your fitness faster than you could have imagined!Although we prioritize getting new athletes through their first races, we also provide a highly competitive arena for the more experienced triathletes to test their limits. We are a part of the Northeast Collegiate Triathlon Conference, which provides five races every Fall season to compete against the other universities in the Northeast region. Every year since our founding we have traveled to the USAT Collegiate Nationals. We also compete in the Ivy League Challenge every year at the Aquaphor New York CityTriathlon, where we have taken home 1st for five straight years, and are currently looking to make it six! Long story short, if you are looking for a highly competitive club that will take you to races throughout the Northeast and even the country, and will pit you against some of the best triathletes this world has to offer, then this is the club for you!We can simultaneously accommodate beginners and 5-time Iron Men alike for many reasons. One such reason is that all of the races we compete in, including the NECTC races, are scored by only taking the top times for each team. Therefore, the athletes that are looking to compete at high levels can do so and contribute to the team's score, and those who are looking to take up triathlon as a hobby or a fitness regimen can do so without feeling the pressure of needing to score for the team. In addition to this, our coach, Darian Silk, is highly experienced in competing and coaching triathlon, and he therefore knows how to help beginners improve quickly while pushing the more advanced athletes to new levels.
