The African Students Association (ASA) was founded at the Pennsylvania State University on February 3, 1969. ASA is an organization geared towards increasing student awareness about the African continent. As a collective, our mission is to unite the sons and daughters of the motherland and all those concerned with her welfare. We further this mission by creating an impact on campus with annual events, awareness programs, attending other cultural and social events, and uplifting the name of the Motherland in all we do.
Our Aims are:To foster a fraternal relationship and better understanding among fellow Africans. To project the African image in the American society through social and cultural activities. To promote friendship between us and the American people and the rest of the world. To engender the spirit of Pan-Africanism.To give moral support to the Liberation Movements in non-independent African states.
