The purpose of the Classical Guitar Club is to enrich the learning experience for undergraduates interested in classical guitar through providing additional educational and networking opportunities. The club is not just for the benefit of Penn State guitar students, however, but for the local population at large. One aspect of our mission is to provide an opportunity for professional guitarists to perform for the local student body and community. Penn State classical guitar club members will then have an opportunity to learn from the chosen performers through masterclass events and personal lessons with said performers. This club, therefore, provides a unique opportunity for serious classical guitar students to gain additional inspiration, education, and guidance from guitarists outside of our university. Through networking with professional guitarists from around the world, this allows Penn State to expand and further establish the Penn State guitar programs. Overall, students, faculty, the school of music, and the community at large can all benefit from the establishment of the Classical Guitar Club.
