The Dominican Student Association was founded at the Pennsylvania State University on April 6th 2009. The Purpose of the Dominican Student Association is to increase campus understanding of the Dominican Republic as a nation, the Dominican-American experience, and the overall Dominican Culture. In addition this organization will serve as an avenue for students of Dominican heritage to unify, as well as medium for all those interested in exploring and celebrating Dominican culture. We strive to meet these goals through four different means, though we are not limited to these efforts: - Hosting and sponsoring informative and social events that will aid in addressing issues concerning Dominicans and other Latinos. These events shall be open to the entire Penn State community and the State College Community. - Also by concentrating our efforts on recruiting and retaining Dominicans students by developing academic and personal support networks for undergraduate students at Penn State. - Obtain historical and updated information about the Dominican Republic, in order to serve as a resource to Dominican affairs. - Strive to serve Dominican communities in the United States and abroad through community service.
