The purpose of this club is to bring awareness to and discuss the plethora of bioethical issues faced by our society. These are not limited to dilemmas faced by people in the science community, but are, rather, issues that encompass a broad range of scenarios that occur in everyday life. The goal of this organization would be to facilitate informed discussion by inviting guest speakers from within the Penn State community and from government or industry to discuss their experiences with bioethics in their respective roles. Topics covered would include, but would not be limited to, ethical theories and frameworks, animal testing, clinical trials, differences between academia and industry, climate science, health insurance, and the controversies and politics surrounding these topics. Current events involving bioethics, in particular, will be emphasized.
