To foster a community-based mutual aid network among Muslim graduate and professional students at Penn State, sustained by the voluntary exchange of resources and services for mutual benefit. To foster discussions and intercultural dialogue and understanding between Muslim graduate and professional students from different disciplines, cultures and countries. To provide social, logistical, professional and academic support for incoming and continuing Muslim graduate and professional students at Penn State. To forge social and professional connections between Muslim graduate and professional students, and Muslim Penn State faculty, staff, alumni and undergraduate students.
Current Activities:
Aiding incoming students with settling in and housing arrangements. Community-building social and cultural activities Sharing community-created resources on organizational website.
Future Activities:
Conducting peer-organized writing workshops and peer-review sessions. Organizing professional and academic talks and roundtables by Muslim guest speakers from within and outside Penn State. Organizing workshops on issues pertaining to racial and religious discrimination and microagression in social, academic and professional spaces. Raising awareness about anti-Muslim racism and discrimination through public outreach campaigns. Establishing a supplementary fund and developing a financial aid system to help Muslim students facing financial difficulties.
