The American Association of University Women is the nation’s leading voice promoting equity and education for women and girls. We work to provide undergraduate students the opportunity to learn about the major issues facing women today, and to join in the advocacy efforts of the women in the community at large. Students take part in addressing various aspects of fundamental issues that affect women all over the country in educational, social, economic, and political perspectives. In addition, our on campus chapter works to ready undergrads for the workplace by providing support, skill workshops, and seminars. This organization is unique in its ability to identify important issues and work to eliminate them on a global scale through fundraising and advocacy and on a personal level through career advancement workshops. Students joining this organization benefit from the wisdom and experience of a large group of professional women from across the country and have the opportunity for mentorship within our local community. In addition, we are involved in promoting STEM at all levels of education. We assist the AAUW Davis Branch put on the yearly Tech Trek summer program, and fundraise throughout the year to send more young women through the program. We will also be coordinating with the Davis and Sacramento chapters to bring accomplished speakers and panels to the UCD campus to educate and inspire the student community.
