The goal of the PSC is to provide undergraduate students with scientific research experience in the field of radio astronomy. Members learn how to analyze data from the Green Bank Telescope and get certified to be mentors to high school students. Members are often compensated for their research efforts by getting research credit. The Pulsar Search Collaboratory (PSC) is a joint project between the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), West Virginia University (WVU), and the Pennsylvania State University (PSU). Penn State’s branch of the PSC, PSC at PSU, corroborates the goals of the general PSC by providing Penn State students with experience mentoring general PSC members while also gaining research experience.
