Community Service & Volunteering
Sisters on the Runway is a student-run organization committed to the prevention and awareness of inter-relational violence and sexual assault. SOTR is a national organization founded in 2005 by three high school students in Montclair, New Jersey. Since its foundation, this club has raised over $80,000 to aid the fight against domestic violence. Our Penn State Chapter holds many events throughout the year to help raise awareness and money for this cause. Two of the these events include "A Mile in Her Shoes" charity walk and our annual Sisters On the Runway Fashion Show. All proceeds from these events, and many more fundraisers leading up to the show, will go directly to Centre Safe, the Centre County Resource Center, which provides emergency shelter, transitional and supported housing, and youth prevention education to the State College community.
