Encourage and assist the students in physics and astronomy to develop knowledge, competence, enthusiasm, and social responsibility that are essential to the development of physics. Stimulate interest in advance study and research in physics and astronomy. Develop collegiality among physics and astronomy students and faculty members. Promote public interest in physics and astronomy. Provide a liaison between students and the members of societies of the American Institute of Physics. And recognize high scholarship and potential achievement in physics and astronomy among outstanding students by means of Sigma Pi Sigma membership. Represent PSU as a local chapter of SPS National.
