Social Justice
Students United Against Poverty is a University-Affiliate student organization tied to the Office of Student Care & Advocacy, and its members are the student ambassadors for the Office of Student Care & Advocacy. The mission of SCA is to act as the student arm of the Office of Student Care & Advocacy, serving as a student organizational liaison for the unit and communicating the unit’s mission and purpose to the Penn State community. The organization aims to inspire a lifelong commitment to selfless service, beginning at Penn State. This will be done by integrating student efforts by providing resources and education, organizing projects and programming, and directly providing holistic support to students.

Active members will have the opportunity to become advocates for those who cannot speak for themselves while creating impactful change in their communities. Active members will discuss the issues surrounding poverty and student hardship at Penn State and beyond, while actively seeking solutions through research, volunteerism, and project execution. We aim to answer the question: what would happen if we could meet the basic needs of all of our students, and all they had to do, was show up to class and learn, graduate, and succeed in their lives?
