STEM
The Synthetic Biology Club (SynBio) works to spread awareness and interest in synthetic biology at Penn State, teach members about techniques to design novel organisms to solve real-world problems, and provide hands-on learning experience in a lab setting. We will teach essential skills in our concept modules and lab modules, and we will also be promoting professional development with workshops and corporate info sessions.
Additionally, this club manages the Penn State iGEM Team. The iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) competition challenges students worldwide to innovate a solution to a problem in the community using synthetic biology. Students will have an authentic research experience in the summer to create their project, which they will present at the international Jamboree in Paris.
