The Food Animal Club provides students interested in food animal medicine the opportunity to learn about current issues facing food animal veterinarians as well as different aspects of the profession. Topics discussed in club meetings and wet labs often focus on beef and dairy cattle, small ruminants, swine, poultry, aquaculture, beekeeping, summer and scholarship opportunities, emerging technologies in food animal medicine, and finding success after graduation. Meetings provide good food and one-on-one networking between the students and the speaker. Membership in this club enables the student to attend annual conferences such as the annual AABP, AASV, AASRP, AAAP, and AVC conferences held throughout the year with often minimal cost to the student. This is made possible by our major fundraising event, the Food Tent, during the annual Vet School Open House in April. Rounds are held every other week with a clinician in the Large Animal Hospital to discuss interesting cases, provide a real-life view of the profession, and to learn how the Large Animal Hospital runs. We are a fun club and always welcome new members! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
