Delta Phi Mu Sorority, Inc.
International & Multicultural
Delta Phi Mu was founded on August 28th, 1991 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana by five courageous and determined Latina womxn. They dreamt of a Sisterhood which would unite all womxn interested in the Latinx culture and in intercultural exchange to empower them to become leaders through personal, academic, and professional fulfillment. Ever since, the Distinguished Ladies of Delta Phi Mu have fulfilled the dreams of our Founding Mothers by flourishing within a bond of true sisterhood which is based on the principles of support, guidance, assistance, and love. Although we come from different backgrounds, together we have formed a united family of sisters who support, guide, assist, and love one another in all that we strive to do. Our motto, "La Esperanza del Futuro Está en las Manos de la Mujer" or "The Hope of the Future Lies in the Hands of the Woman", epitomizes the purpose that lies within our Sisterhood to work tirelessly toward making the world a better place for all womxn. We do so by uplifting our communities through service and advocacy and by motivating all womxn to become leaders through personal, academic, and professional development. Delta Phi Mu Sorority, Inc. is nationally recognized as an official sponsor of The Heart Truth® initiative through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. We additionally support the Go Red for Women campaign through the American Heart Association. Through these two initiatives, we hope to provide awareness of the effects of heart disease, which disproportionately effects womxn of color in the U.S. We hope to advocate for better access to medical treatments and resources that will relieve womxn of color from shouldering the burden of this disease. Delta Phi Mu Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit, 501©7 public service organization. Delta Phi Mu is open to all womxn, regardless of race, religion, color, age, national origin or ancestry, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, disability, or status as a disabled war veteran.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7S2mgik62k
