Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University. These students wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need. The first public act performed by the Delta Founders involved their participation in the Women's Suffrage March in Washington D.C., March 1913. Delta Sigma Theta was incorporated in 1930.The Zeta Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. The Zeta Theta Chapter was chartered on November 3, 1968 at Purdue, by seven dynamically devoted women. While staying committed to the organization's principles through dedication, commitment, and hard work, these seven women were able to set the standards and establish a foundation for the future members of the chapter. The Zeta Theta Chapter serves the Greater Lafayette community by implementing programs which emphasize our commitment to our Five Point Thrust Program. Some of Zeta Theta's past programming include our annual Delta Dash for Diabetes to benefit the American Diabetes Association, teamwork building at Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club, our Red Table Talk event series focusing on one of our Five Point Programmatic Thrusts, volunteering at Hartford Hub, our What Happened Last Week, Today social media news source, Trick or Treat for UNICEF, and tutoring at the Hanna Center.Presently, there are five members of the Zealous Zeta Theta Chapter who give their time and talent to serve the Greater Lafayette community.
