Interested in using your life and career to help many people over the course of your life? Effective Altruism Purdue focuses on helping members find highly impactful careers using evidence and reason. We work with the career advising firm, 80,000 hours to do so.Some common Effective Altruism causes include promoting global health and wellbeing, increasing animal welfare, and reducing existential risks. That being said, we're always looking for more causes where we can have similarly high impact.Effective Altruism Purdue is a student organization for anyone interested in applying the ideas of effective altruism. We meet every weekly to discuss effective altruism and related topics, and each semester we host an introductory seminar on effective altruist ideas.Students of all backgrounds, majors, and years are welcome, and prior experience with effective altruism is not required to join.
