The Fusion Awareness Organization strives to expand the world's understanding of fusion energy. Achieving commercially available fusion energy promises to be one of the most important breakthroughs in modern civilization. Unfortunately, due to its complex nature and the current dominance of conventional energy generation, fusion energy is not widely discussed among the general public. Future success depends on inspiring future scientists and engineers of the untapped potential in fusion energy. Through presentations and events at local schools and community centers, the FAO hopes to raise general awareness and effect change on a local scale.Due to the public facing nature of the FAO, students participating in the club will learn about public speaking and communicating complex technical information effectively to different groups of people. In addition, members will be in an environment that will celebrate fusion and discuss current energy issues. Once a member has graduated from Purdue, they will be well equipped to become a leader in discovering new green technologies.
