Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program at Purdue University
Political & Advocacy
KDSAP offers undergraduate students the opportunity to raise public awareness and promote early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD). KDSAP has two key objectives: student career development and community outreach. In addition, KDSAP will offer speaker series and programs to expose students to the scientific and medical professions while developing relationships with established physician mentors. This organization further targets undergraduate students to pursue in-depth education in the lacking nephrology workforce by raising awareness about the prevalence of chronic kidney disease and other renal diseases through community-based education and advocating preventative medicine measures. Through monthly hands-on screenings in underserved communities, students will gain leadership and management skills while providing healthcare to those in need. Our goal is to combine science, medicine, and other skills to improve the health and lifestyle of minority communities.
