The Physics Graduate Student Association (PGSA) is a group for graduate students enrolled in the physics graduate program and as graduate teaching/research assistants in the Physics and Astronomy department. Our primary goal is to serve as a bridge between graduate students and the department at large. This association was formed to help advance the academic and professional development of graduate students in physics and related fields, and to help provide a sense of community within the department. There are approximately 200 graduate students in the physics department that come from a diverse population. About 40% of our graduate students are international students. While we all work in the field of physics, our research can be very different and hard for others to comprehend. PGSA hopes to provide opportunities for physics graduate students to get together, learn from each other, and build meaningful social and professional connections with one another that will continue to develop past our time at Purdue.
