This organization acts to represent graduate student interests and concerns at the university; develop and disseminate ideas to improve the academic, social, and professional welfare of graduate students; and voice the graduate student perspective to the university community.PGSG is divided into a legislative branch (the Purdue Graduate Student Senate, PGSS) and several teams. All graduate and professional programs (which the exception of PharmD, which is represented within the Purdue Student Government) is eligible for representation. Each graduate or professional program is entitled to x1 student senator. Each graduate program selects a senator as outlined in the constitution to attend our senate meetings, held monthly September to April. Any graduate or professional student is welcome to attend any of our meetings; all of our dealings or open. The real key to the success of the Graduate School and the happiness of graduate students is clear and effective lines of communication between the students and administrators. We feel the PGSS is a very effective means of starting a meaningful and lasting dialog that can only benefit the entire community. Graduate student senators are the most important part of this mission, and their input is invaluable for this project.What does the senate do?At the PGSS meetings, graduate students discuss ideas and concerns they want to address attend, sometimes for sake of discussion and others in the interest to pass resolutions on behalf of the graduate and professional student body or bills influencing the operations of PGSG. The Executive Board is then charged with ensuring the appropriate follow up of senate decisions.
