From their experiences, they would learn to embrace and appreciate the different lifestyles and cultures of individuals around the world. If you are interested in volunteering and helping others, this is the perfect organization for you! Along with our Service Learning Trips abroad to countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Tanzania, and Nicaragua, MEDLIFE participates in local volunteering events within the Lafayette community. We offer car pools for all our members that need help getting to events. MEDLIFE is open to ALL MAJORS! We have volunteering events ranging from elementary school help to hospital volunteering! MEDLIFE is sure to offer an opportunity that will fit the interest of all of our members. Let's look at our "MED" pillars: MedicineMobile Clinics: + Bringing the clinic to the poor + Partnering with local doctors and professionals on ground + Ensuring patient follow-up + Providing preventive health educationEducation We work in the following areas of education: + Legal (land title, rights & responsibilities of citizens, labor rights, taxes) + Public health (various preventative health topics for adults, adolescents, and children) + Economy & small business (budgeting, loans, savings, investments, training for entrepreneurs) + Human rights and domestic violence + Breaking the cycle of poverty through medicine, education, and development + Partnering with local teachers + Bringing schools into communitiesDevelopmentThe types of projects we engage in vary greatly from region to region, but throughout all our work MEDLIFE places a priority on engaging and involving community stakeholders, so as to promote the long-term use and maintenance of our projects.
