RIISE stands for Reinventing the Interface of Inclusivity, Sports and Engineering. The organization has two main focuses: first, drive the growth and continuity of Wheel Rise and second, reinforce the collaboration between Athletics and Engineering to create inclusive opportunities in sports and beyond. Wheel Rise is an annual event to raise awareness for Paralympic Sports and empower lives through sports and inclusivity. For the inaugural event, Wheel Rise hosted a wheelchair basketball game, played by national level athletes and Purdue professors showcase the current and potential research at Purdue. Student-athletes also tried to play and showed the audience how difficult the sport was and how skilled the parasport athletes are. (Wheel Rise website: https://engineering.purdue.edu/wheelrise)
