Sigma Alpha is a professional and social agricultural sorority founded at The Ohio State University in 1978. It quickly spread to Purdue University (Beta Chapter) in 1981 and has since grown tremendously in size. The mission of the founding women was to strive for achievements in scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service - the four pillars that our members signify and uphold. Sisters at Purdue University promote service to Indiana AgrAbility (Breaking New Ground) and “Ag in the Classroom.” Sigma Alpha is accepting all majors, but sisters share a common stance in the promotion of women excelling in agriculture.
