BEACN is a non-profit business consulting organization focused on sustainability and social responsibility. We've worked with a range of clients, including Fortune 500 businesses, non-profits, government agencies, startups, and law firms.
As a BEACN member, you'll gain valuable project experience by working with real clients to implement sustainable business practices. You'll also join BEACN's vibrant community and make lifelong friends who will support you at Cal and beyond.
Each of our project teams consists of 5-6 undergraduate students majoring in a diverse set of disciplines, including Chemical Engineering, Business Administration, Environmental Economics and Policy, Music, Energy Engineering, Political Science, City Planning, and Data Science. We offer a variety of consulting services including:
- Business Strategy: Providing management, sales, business development consulting services.
- Policy Analysis: Generating policy reports and white papers outlining policy proposals around sustainability, carbon neutrality, zero-waste, etc.
- Marketing/Branding: Create a brand image and developing marketing strategies through market analysis and consumer research.
- Energy & Environmental Metrics: Calculating cost and energy savings of green products. Creating financial models to assess the feasibility of new policies
- Sustainability: Formulating carbon neutrality policies and renewable energy strategies.
- Data Visualization: Measuring cradle to grave environmental impact and creating visualizations to represent it.
Prior consulting or business experience is *not* needed to apply—we will teach you the skills needed to perform the tasks listed above!
