The purpose of BUDA is to foster a community that supports Black students aspiring to have a career in dentistry. The Black community and businesses have been historically marginalized, leading to disparities in oral health treatment and coverage. To combat these inequities, we provide resources and opportunities to help students thrive academically and professionally in a field that they are underrepresented in. The space we create will allow students to maximize success in their classes, extracurriculars, and studies for professional school assessments. Additionally, we offer students guidance for professional school requirements and applications. We aim to provide meaningful relationships with like-minded undergraduate students, graduate students, and dental professionals. We also offer volunteering and community service opportunities for students to support our local communities.
