Girl Up Michigan is a student chapter of the United Nations campaign, Girl Up. Launched in 2010, Girl Up, aims to ensure that girls in developing countries are educated, healthy, safe, counted, and positioned to be the next generation of leaders through five main pillars: education, health, freedom from violence, and count. At Girl Up Michigan, we host fundraisers, volunteering events, speaker series, socials, and a gala. Through each of these events, we aim to create a family in which anyone can feel safe to discuss important issues surrounding women and advocate for important causes. Girl Up Michigan aims to empower others to get involved and teach the Ann Arbor community that girls around the world matter while making an impact that is both local and global as we fundraise for issues around the world.
