The University of Michigan Hong Kong Student Association is a student organization that aims to strengthen the Hong Kong community on UM campus, as well as preserve and celebrate our culture and heritage to any and all students that are interested! We typically hold monthly events open to anyone, including food (for a specific festival/celebration), bonding activities, and collaboration. However, we are looking to expand our offerings with growing student interest. This is particularly important for international students, who form a big part of our student organization, as we try to provide a space - a home away from home - where they can be in a more familiar environment. The events held by HKSA are aimed at strengthening camaraderie among members, assisting members in problem-solving, and helping members in understanding the academics, culture, and community of the University of Michigan and of Ann Arbor. Our goal during this collaboration is to 1) help our organization develop and grow on campus, 2) encourage cultural exchange between members of the organization, 3) increase awareness of Hong Kong traditions and culture and 4) provide an event where we can reminisce on favorite family dishes while away from home.
