The Arabic Debate Society (ADS) is an organization that aims to facilitate debates in the Arabic language, based on the guidelines set by the Qatar Debate championship. While participation in the championship is not required, speakers of all Arabic levels are welcome to participate, from beginners to natives. The ADS provides a platform for individuals to develop their public speaking skills, critical thinking, and argumentation skills in Modern Standard Arabic. The organization offers workshops and training sessions to help participants develop these skills, and they have a team of experienced coaches who provide guidance and support throughout the process. One of the goals of ADS is to train a team of Arabic speakers to participate in the international Qatar Debate championship, in which participants debate hot-topic motions in Arabic at universities all around the country. While our debate style is largely based on Qatar Debate rules and guidelines, joining our official debate team is not mandatory, and members can still learn valuable skills from this style of argumentation. The ADS also emphasizes the importance of respectful and constructive dialogue, where participants engage with each other in a spirit of openness and mutual understanding; debates are not only a way to develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, but also a way to foster empathy and respect for diverse perspectives.Whether you are a native Arabic speaker, a first-year learner, a seasoned debater, or have never debated, everyone is welcome to be a part of ADS and join the discourse!
