LEAP (Learning, Empowerment, and Achievement Program) is a volunteer organization committed to serving underprivileged members of our community and reducing disparity in college admissions between low and high-income students. America's higher education system is often a major step in creating a professional career, but differences in income between applicants to colleges and universities can give major advantages to some, including personal college advisors, standardized test tutors, and application essay help.LEAP's mission is to offer many of these advantages to students who may otherwise not be able to afford them by providing free college counseling and standardized test tutoring services. Volunteers with LEAP will meet virtually or in person with students in the program and help them with whatever college-admissions related questions or services they may need. We are in connection with local (Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti area) schools and community centers who pass along this information to students who may need it.Getting involved in LEAP is a great way to earn volunteer hours in a meaningful way! The relationships created with students and the opportunities tutors offer to these students are truly incredible. Tutoring guidelines, resources, and contacts will be provided by LEAP, and at least one hour of tutoring each week (virtual or in person) is required as a member. Schedules for tutoring are arranged with the tutor and their student. LEAP is continuously accepting applications. Please submit an application if you are interested in getting involved, or use the email listed below to request more information!
