The Medical Mentorship Program (MMP) strives to address disparities in medical school readiness through offering institutional support, mentorship, and sponsorship to aspiring physicians and physician scientists from backgrounds that are under-represented in the field of medicine. We hope to bridge the knowledge and opportunity gap for students who have had limited exposure and/or experience in the medical field, and ultimately increase diversity in the profession. Eventually, we hope that this pilot program at the University of Michigan can become a catalyst for similar initiatives nationwide.
