IMPORTANT: To join the organization and receive email updates, please contact rectennis@umich.edu. Welcome! We are an organization that allows players of all levels to play tennis and have fun. We welcome ALL players, although most of the players that stick around and enjoy it the most are those that have at least high school, USTA, or any competitive tennis experience. Practice is entirely up to you (sets, drop and hit games, etc.). Please note, however, that this is NOT a good place to learn how to play tennis for the first time. Here's how it works:Rec Tennis meets three times per week, however we are also a zero commitment club meaning you attend as many or as few days as you would like. For Fall 2024, our session schedule is as follows: Tuesday 10:00PM-12:00AMThursday 10:00PM-12:00AMSunday 6:00PM-8:00PM Price: $80 (for the semester) + $50 VTC membership (September-August) -Rec Tennis meets at the Varsity Tennis Center, a facility that requires a one-time $50 membership fee that covers the entire year. Non-members can pay a $10 guest fee. Here is a link to the VTC website, which provides more membership information:http://www.tennis.umich.edu/index.php/membership/ Additionally, organization dues are $80. This covers court rental and balls. Prospective members may try their first Rec Tennis session for free, however the VTC does charge a guest fee ($10) for non-members. We also allow dues to be payed at $10 per session if you do not want to commit to a whole semester. These dues can be paid with:-Cash-Checks made out to the "U of M Recreational Tennis Club"-Venmo (see GroupMe for @) Since Rec Tennis does not try to make a profit, every member's dues is important. Because of this, we will only refund your money within two weeks after payment. We strongly encourage you to try the free trial session if you are unsure about joining. If these dues are an issue, please contact us so we can try to work something out. We want everyone to have the chance to play and enjoy themselves. CarpoolingWe pick up members 15-20 minutes before the scheduled meeting time in front of South Quad on E. Madison St., Mojo on Observatory St., East Quad on East U Ave., North Quad on E Washington St., and North Campus at the NCRB. If you have a car and can make this intersection a part of your route to VTC, please do so and pick up as many members as possible. Drivers coordinate pickups in our club group chat. If you can consistently provide rides to other members, dues will be reduced to as low as $30/semester. Please contact us with any questions or concerns. Go Blue!
