Michigan Sustainable Aviation with General Electric
STEM
The Michigan Sustainable Aviation with General Electric (M-SAGE) is a project team associated with the Department of Aerospace Engineering x88 Product Development course series overseen by Professor George Halow. The team partners with General Electric Aerospace to deliver an RC sustainable aviation technology demonstrator platform and digital engineering environment through the use of MBSE tools and processes. The 2024-2025 M-SAGE Project is a program focused on the incorporation of specific sustainable aviation technologies into an RC demonstrator craft. The core deliverable will be a modified Bushmaster RC craft that incorporates a truss-braced wing design, gas turbine propulsion, and integrated flight controls as a successful baseline. A primary focus will be on the use of MBSE tools and processes to accommodate changing or uncertain customers requirements, and a key deliverable will be the documentation of the effect of MBSE on efficiency, traceability, and design robustness. The project will culminate in a flight demonstration at the end of the project development cycle.
