Thousands of people with blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia and other life-threatening diseases, depend on a bone marrow or cord blood transplant (also called a BMT) to save their life. Most patients (about 70 percent) in need of a transplant do not have a matching donor in their family. They depend on the NMDP’s registry to find an unrelated donor or cord blood unit. More people are needed to join the registry so patients have a greater chance of finding a match. Please join us on our mission to give life to those who suffer from illnesses requiring them to need a bone marrow transplant. Throughout the semester, we run swabbing events where we recruit people to join the NMDP registry, where they could be tapped to consider donating cells.
