The roster on MaizePages is outdated.~What is a Physician Assistant?Physician Assistants (PAs) are healthcare professionals who practice medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician. PAs provide physical exams, order and administer tests, diagnose, and treat illnesses and injuries. PAs work in various settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, private practices, and surgical centers. They are qualified to practice in virtually every specialty area and can prescribe medicine in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. ~About the ClubThe Pre-PA Club aims to consolidate information and resources concerning physician assistant program admission requirements, application procedures, and health experience opportunities. Our goal is to inform members about the history and purpose of the profession while providing familiarity with the healthcare system.The Pre-PA Club intends to provide all members with opportunities to meet with professionals in the field, tour local Physician Assistant Programs, and discuss issues regarding the profession. The club also intends to hold social events for members and fundraising events to aid in our local philanthropic efforts.We hold approximately 7 meetings per semester. Meetings are typically held at 7pm, bi-weekly on Wednesdays.As a member, you will benefit from:Meeting workshops regarding prerequisite classes and the CASPA applicationDiscounts on GRE Prep Courses and Materials through the Princeton ReviewInterview and Personal Statement tips and practiceE-mails about job openingsPA panels and speakersParticipation at the Ronald McDonald House, local blood drives, Adopt-a-Family and moreNetworking for summer opportunities ie. summer camps, patient care, mission trips, etc.Restaurant fundraisersProgram directors from regional PA programs and much much more!Dues are only $10 per year or $5 per semester Active members are identified as anyone who has paid their dues for that academic year or semester and has accrued 5* attendance points (per semester) by attending meetings and participating in volunteer events. Note that at least 2 of the 5 points MUST come from participation in volunteer events.
