Rude Mechanicals is the only student-run theatre organization on the University of Michigan Campus that offers students of all majors an opportunity to work on a full-scale production. Founded in 1996 by two engineers, Michael Newberry and Christopher Ritchie, Rude Mechanicals has been producing a staged theatre production each semester.We want our audience members to see something unique when they walk into a theatre, to be taken to another world. Rude Mechanicals offers you a chance to explore all aspects of theatre: acting, designing, lighting, costuming, scenic construction, marketing, run crew, and many more wonderful opportunities. Rudes strives to be an artistic outlet for everyone – regardless of your theatre experience.
