The Sentence Commutation Project (SCP) at the University of Michigan Law School seeks to provide incarcerated individuals with high-quality advocacy via preparation for sentence commutation hearings and assistance with written commutation applications. SCP also advocates for policies designed to decarcerate Michigan, works to expand awareness of clemency within the Michigan Law community, and partners with other clemency advocates throughout Michigan. The Sentence Commutation Project aims to empower incarcerated individuals while engaging students with pro bono work in the criminal legal system.
