Students for Sustainable Artificial Intelligence Development
Political & Advocacy
Did you know behind every AI response is a sprawling network of data infrastructure that requires large amount of water and energy to be sustained? Did you know AI has potential to help craft innovate solutions to global climate issues? If you have ever wondered about how we might reconcile the growing use of artificial intelligence with its expanding environmental footprint then Students for Sustainable Artificial Intelligence Development (SSAID) is the place for you! As an organization we are interested in exploring the environmental ethics of AI development, its potential uses in addressing climate challenges, and how large institutions can lead the way in development transparent and clean AI infrastructures. SSAID is open to all members of the community with an interest in the environment, data and AI, and energy systems! Members can contribute to a lively and timely conversation on AI usage with students and faculty across the university through attending panel discussions, workshops, and more!
