STARS is a law school student organization, thought of and advanced by the Michigan Journal of Race & Law (MJRL), dedicated to race relations within the law school (in class and outside of class). The idea for this student organization was created after members of the Race and Curriculum Committee of MJRL recognized that they'd like to do more advocacy within the law school but are restricted due to the limited number of Committee members (4). STARS is aware that many affinity groups address racial problems on campus through advocacy and events, but think it would be advantageous to form a student organization that is not an affinity group dedicated to this topic. This group would appreciate and welcome intersectionality and diverse viewpoints, as other identities that we hold impact racial issues at the law school.
