Touch of Blue (formerly known as BlueNote Vocal Ensemble) is comprised of musicians who have a strong desire to improve their overall musicianship through jazz and improvisational study and learn through peer-to-peer mentorship. As an extracurricular group, the ensemble will meet approximately 1-2 times a week with more rehearsal time pending on an upcoming performance. The group will work towards one main performance at the end of each semester, and will make guest appearances on other departmental concerts as well as participate in outreach events scattered throughout the year. Touch of Blue's mission is to inspire diverse audiences through the exploration and presentation of jazz-centric American vocal music, with a commitment to uplifting and celebrating this music through both improvisatory and more conventional performance modes.
