UMSFP fosters collaborative leadership that empowers students to create a more just and sustainable food system at the University of Michigan while becoming change agents for a resilient planet. To further this mission, UMSFP focuses effort on partnering with organizations and events that support the local food system, thereby: 1) Developing responsible student leaders by facilitating education, professional development, and discussion on sustainable food systems.2) Building community through collaborative programming and mutually beneficial partnerships.3) Redistribute power between institutions and groups through the principles and practices of visionary organizing.
