Wolverine Offshore Wind
STEM
Wolverine Offshore Wind is a student-led organization that seeks to promote the development of and research into offshore wind energy technologies. Our work includes designing, building, and testing prototype model offshore wind turbines and turbine components, developing siting and financial plans for the implementation of offshore wind farms, and conducting other research focused on the development of offshore wind technologies. Throughout our work, we will conduct outreach in coastal and Great Lakes communities, and engage with members of the wind and offshore wind industries. This year, we are focusing on the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL’s) Collegiate Wind Competition, which challenges students to design an offshore wind farm, build and test a fixed-bottom offshore wind turbine prototype for that farm, and engage with communities to promote renewable energy. For more information regarding the competition, please see the competition webpage here: 2025 Collegiate Wind Competition | HeroX We seek students of all backgrounds to join us in our work, which represents an excellent opportunity to learn more about offshore wind or renewable energy more broadly while developing valuable industry and academic connections.
