Club Emory Gender Expansive and Women's Ultimate Frisbee
Hobby
Looking for community and an opportunity to be active? Emory Gender Expansive and Women's Ultimate (EGEWU) consists of two teams, Luna and Tuna. We compete in tournaments throughout the South. EGEWU is a supportive community that welcomes undergraduate and graduate students to either learn to play or build on their skills! We have experienced coaches to build competitive teams while always keeping a silly vibe. --> Why 'gender expansive and womens'? We play in College Womens Division I tournaments, but we welcome players of varying gender expressions. --> I've never played ultimate frisbee, can I still join? Yes! Many of our players (including much of our leadership) never did ultimate before college. We will teach the game to new players and help eachother learn. --> What's the commitment? Players are expected to attend our Tuesday and Thursday practices (except for the beginning of the year, and if you communicate specific circumstances to leadership), and Luna players are expected to participate in Friday practices as well. We compete at 1-2 local tournaments in the fall, and 3-4 travel tournaments in the spring, and attendance is highly encouraged. We also have social events, volunteering, and fundraising event throughout the year! These are optional but participating helps foster a sense of community and supports our standing as a Silver tier Club Sport. --> What is Luna and Tuna? Towards the end of fall semester, we split into two teams. Though we remain one EGEWU family with many joint events/practices, Luna is provides a more skilled, competitive environment and Tuna provides a more silly, developmental environment. No one is cut during this split. --> How much does it cost? We have no dues and all tournament travel is paid for. We ask players to purchase cleats and uniforms if they are financially able, and if not we will help with those costs! Still want to learn more?
